I think that Benjamin Franklin was trying to say that if you don't work for anything you will never have anything. He was basically saying that if you choose to sleep all day and not go to work then you're not going to have money to buy the things you want.  In order to survive this world, you have to work hard so you can be able to get somewhere in life. It's not easy having to work for everything but that's just how it is.
