A right rectangular pyramid is shown in the question. As shown in the figure the pyramid is cut with a slice parallel to it's base.

To Find:

We have to find the area of the shaded cross section which is two dimensional in nature.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, the base of the pyramid is right rectangular so, it's cross section parallel to the base will also be a rectangle.

And it is shown also in the figure that the dimension of the rectangle is 2.5 in by 2 in.

So, the required area will be = 2 \times 2.5 = 5 \textrm { sq. inches}

Therefore, the area of the two dimensional cross section will be 5 sq. inches.
