Answer:

The Position of the air bubble is 0.8 cm from the surface.

Explanation:

Given that,

Refractive index of glass\mu_{2} =1.5

Radius of glass sphere R = -2 cm

The distance of the glass = 1 cm

We need find out the position of air bubble

Using the formula

\dfrac{\mu_{2}}{v}-\dfrac{\mu_{1}}{u}=\dfrac{\mu_{2}-\mu_{1}}{-R}

We know ,

Refractive index of air \mu_{1} =1

Put the value into the formula

\dfrac{1.5}{-1}-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1.5-1}{-2}

-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{0.5}{-2}+\dfrac{1.5}{1}

-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{5}{4}

-u=\dfrac{4}{5}

u = 0.8\ cm

Hence, The Position of the air bubble is 0.8 cm from the surface.
