A small amount of hydrochloric acid is always produced in the stomach. Is it useful or harmful for us? If excess of acid is produced in the stomach, what should we do?​

Don't worry it is hydrochloric acid is produced for digestion of food and your stomach is protected by a mucus wall that resists the flow of said chemical to the rest of the body. You must have seen adults complaining about acidity it happens when you body produces more than required acid and with some self treatment it can be cured easily.

The small amount of hydrochloric acid produced in our stomach is always useful to kill the germs that came inside us through the intake of food and for the digestion of food.

If excess of acid is produced in our stomach, you should take the antacids to neutralize the ph level in the stomach.

Ex. of antacids- milk of magnesia , ranitidine etc.
