Reaction of quick lime and water is a type of combination reaction because after combination of two products only one product gets formed.

CaO+ H2O---> Ca(OH)2

When a 'small amount' of "quick lime" is added to 'water' in a beaker, the reaction which takes place is called as combination reaction.

EXPLANATION:

Combination reactions generate lot of heat and so are also exothermic reactions.  When some amount of 'quick lime' is added to water, the quick lime and water react to form a colourless compound. This colourless compound is called as calcium hydroxide.

The chemical equation for the chemical reaction is:

\mathrm{CaO}+\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O} \rightarrow \mathrm{Ca}(\mathrm{OH})_{2}+\text{Heat}
