a small ball of mass 2m is dropped from some height on a hemisphere of mass 7m. the ratio of speed of ball to that of speed of hemisphere just after collision is:(neglect friction everywhere)​

Answer:

Ball was initially dropped along Y axis and along X axis ( horizontal ) V=0

so initial momentum along X axis =0=final momentum. ( Law of conservation of momentum)

Let after collision,

velocity of ball and of hemisphere are u and v respectively.

so 2mu+7mv=0

=>2mu= - 7mv

=>u/v=-7/2 (ratio of velocity)

ratio of speed is modulus of that i.e 7/2
