A small candle, 2.5 cm in size is placed at 27 cm in front of a concave mirror of radius of curvature 36 cm. At what distance from the mirror should a screen be placed in order to obtain a sharp image? Describe the nature and size of the image. If the candle is moved closer to the mirror, how would the screen have to be moved?

Answer:

Screen should be placed 36 cms (at Centre of Curvature) from the mirror if the candle is placed in between C (centre of curvature) and F (Focal Length). The nature of the object is real and inverted and the magnification is 4/3

Explanation:

According to concave mirror diagrams, if the object is placed in between C and F, the image (Real and Inverted) will be formed at C. Therefore the object distance is (-36) cms from the mirror. And the height of the image formed is 4/3 times the size of the candle.

If candle is moved closer to the mirror, screen has to be pushed away from the mirror.

I hope this helps you.
