Given : A small college has 800  students

10% of which are left-handed.

Sample of 8 students taken

To Find :  Probability of  2 left handers in sample

Solution:

left-handed. are 10 %

=> p = 1/10

   q  = 1 - p = 9/10

sample of 8 has been taken

n = 8

Probability of  2 left handers  has to find

x = 2

P(x) = ⁿCₓpˣqⁿ⁻ˣ

P (2)  = ⁸C₂(1/10)²(9/10)⁶

= 28 * 9⁶ / 10⁸

= 0.1488

= 14. 88 %

Probability of  2 left handers   = 0.1488    or  14. 88 %
