president is elected by the members of electoral college (which consist of MPs and nominated members of state legislature)

election of president is given in article 53 & 54 of constitution of India

1. president of India is elected indirectly.
2. he is elected by only the elected members of lok sabha , rajya sabha, and state legislative assembly.
3. nominated members do not take part in the elections of president.
4. the election process is called single transferable vote system for proportional representation.
