The electric field due to a dipole at any point in space is given by,

E=1/(4πϵ0r3)(3(p.r^)r^−p)

r = 2i + 2 \sqrt{2} j

r^  =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} }i  +  \sqrt{ \frac{2}{3} } j

E=1/(4πϵ0r3)(3pr^−pi^)

The i component cancels out leaving only the j component.

so the direction of electric field is along y - axis
