Given:

Greenhouse is 40 cm long, 30 cm wide and 30 cm high

To find:

Area of the glass sheets required = ?

Solution:

As, The greenhouse is cuboid shaped here.

Length = l = 40 cm

Breadth or width = b = 30 cm

Height = h = 30 cm

Therefore, Area of glass sheets = Surface area of the glass sheets

Area of glass sheets = 2[lb + bh + lh]

Area = 2[ 40 × 30 + 30 × 30 + 40 × 30]

Area = 2[ 1200 + 900 + 1200 ]

Area = 2[ 3300 ]

Area = 6600 cm²

Answer:

Therefore, Area of glass sheets required is 6600 cm²

Additional points:

  • Here,

 \\  \\ surface \: area \: of \: cuboid \:  =  \\  \\ 2(lb \:  + bh \:  + lh) \\  \\ l \:  = length \\  \\ b \:  = breadth \: or \: width \\  \\ h = height

  • While calculating area of sheets required we use surface area formula because we have to find the area of the sheets required to cover the entire area of cuboid
