A small monkey of mass m = 20 kg is climbing up a rope with an acceleration
2 m/s2 relative to rope. The rope passes over a fixed pulley and carries a wooden bar of mass
M= 5 kg as shown in the figure. Find the acceleration of monkey and the bar.

As monkey moving upwards

So net force T-mg=3mg/2 (1)

Also the block of mass 2m will move upwards as monkey pulls the rope while climbing therefore for block

Net force T-2mg=ma (2)

Substituting the value of T in (2) you get a=g/2.
