20+x=22+(10-x)

20+x-10+x=22

10+2x=22

2x=12

X=6

Mu =real thickness ÷apparent thickness=10÷6=1.67

Answer:

The refractive index of glass is 1.67.

Explanation:

Given that,

Object distance = 20 cm

Thickness of glass = 10 cm

Image distance = 22 cm

We need to calculate the refractive index of glass

Using formula for refractive index

d=2(v+\dfrac{t}{\mu})

Put the value into the formula

20+10+22=2(22+\dfrac{10}{\mu})

52-40=\dfrac{20}{\mu}

\mu=1.67

Hence, The refractive index of glass is 1.67.
