A small piece of calcium metal is dropped in a beaker containing cold water and a few
drops of neutral litmus. The water is gently stirred by a celsius thermometer. Describe

The calcium will react with water to form Calcium Hydroxide. It would lead to the rise of temperature. So on the thermometer a certain rise in temperature will be observed.
As drops of neutral litmus are added to the solution it the colour will change into blue as Calcium hydroxide (slaked lime) is basic in nature.
