Metals possess a special property called DUCTILITY. This is the property which makes metals possible to be drawn into thin wires. Gold is the most ductile metal. It can be easily drawn into thin wires.
Non metals are brittle , ie ,they break on beating and cannot be drawn into thin wires.
Application : Gold and silver can be used to make wired jewellery and metals like copper are also used to make electric wires etc..
