A small piece of iron of mass 250 g is heated to 90 0C and then put in calorimeter of mass 400 g

containing 150 g of water at 20 0C. What is final temperature of the mixture?​

Heat absorbed by the ''calorimeter + water'' system is equal to the heat released by the solid.

Specific heat of water   Sw=1 cal/goC

So,    mwSw(40−15)+mcSc(40−15)=msSs(90−40) 

Or     100×1×25+100×0.1×25=250×Ss×50

⟹ Ss=0.22 cal/goC
