A small
small aluminium box has a mass of 25g and volume 520cm cube . The box is places on the surface of water. some nails are gently dropped in the box. If the mass of one nail is 3g.then how many nails can be added to the box before it sinks.​

● Explaination -

Aluminum box will sink when average density of the aluminum box just exceeds the density of water (>= 1g/cc).

Density of aluminum box after putting n number of nails is -

Density = mass / volume

Density = (mass of empty box + mass of nails) / volume of box

1 = (25 + 3n) / 520

520 = 25 + 3n

3n = 495

n = 165 nails

Therefore, at least 165 nails had to be put in aluminum box for it to sink.
