Given:

A small tennis ball is made Negatively Charged.

To find:

Correct statement among the following:

a) it mass increases

b) it charge is Q=ne

c)it moves with a larger velocity through air

d)charge is found uniformly distributed over it's entire surface.

Solution:

Statement a) is correct:

During the process of charging the tennis ball, a few excess electrons have to transferred from the source to the tennis ball. Since each electron has a mass of 9.1 × 10^(-31) kg, theoritically , the mass of tennis ball will increase.

Statement b) is correct:

During charging of the tennis ball, integral number of electrons had been transferred. So the net charge on tennis ball will be integral multiple of the charge of each electron.

Statement c) is incorrect:

Charge has no role in increasing the velocity of the tennis ball.

Statement d) is correct:

Charges are stabilised over a larger area. Hence, after charging the tennis ball, the excess electrons will rearrange themselves and get distributed uniformly along the surface of the ball.

Hope It Helps.
