Given ,
- Distance travelled by snail = 100m
- Time taken by the snail to travell = 50 hours
We need to find ,
- Average speed of snail = ?
Firstly converting hours to seconds because SI unit of speed is ‘m/s’
• 1 hour = 3600s
→ 5 hours = 5(3600)
→ 5 hours = 18000s
As we know that ,
Average Speed = Total distance/Total time
Substituting ,
- Total distance = 100 m
- Total time = 50 h = 18000s
⇒ Average speed = 100/18000
⇒ Average speed = 1/180
⇒ Average speed = 0.0055 m/s
Hence , average speed of the snail = 0.005 m/s
