A soft iron bar is enched by a coil of insulated copper wire as shown in figure when the plug of the key is closed the face of the iron bar marked coil
f many circular tums of insulated copper wire wrapped closely in the shape of cylinder is called as solenoid Through which a current allowing in copper wire in order to create a magnetic field. The magnetic field of the solenoid is the superposition of the field due to current through each terms of soil. It is nearly uniform inside the solenoid & close to zero outside & it in Similar to the field of bar magnet having a N-pole at one end & S-pole at other end depending upon the direction of current flow. The magnetic field produce in the solenoid is dependent on a few factors such as the current in the coil, number of atoms per unit length ete.

What type of energy conversion is observed in a linear solenoid?

a Mechanical to Magnetic b. Electrical to Magnetic

Choose the correct option, the magnetic field inside a long straight solenoid

carrying current

a. Zero b. Decreases as we move towards its end.

c. Increases as we move towards its end. It the constant (same) at all point.

The magnetic field lines inside a current carrying solenoid are

Along the axis & parallel to each other

b. Perpendicular to the axis and equidistance from each other e Circular and they do not intersect each other

d. Circular at the ends but they are parallel to the axis inside the solenoid
