A soil exploration study was performed up to a depth of 15m from the ground level at a site and the following data were obtained: Layer 1 (From 0 m to -5 m depth): y = 17.2 kN/m³, Ysat= 19.3kN/m³. Layer 2 (From -5 m to -15 m depth): Ysat=20.2 kN/m³. During summer, the water table is at 1.5 m below ground level. During monsoon, the water table rises to ground level. Calculate the difference of effective stress between both seasons at the bottom i.e. at 15 m depth. Take Yw= 10 kN/m²
a. 22.35 kPa c. 9.75 kPa
b. 12.78 kPa d. 11.85 kPa
