Answer:

A solar eclipse begins from the western region because the moon obstruct sunlight. This happens because the Moon orbits the Earth from west to east. As the earth rotates from west to east with the velocity

5 km/sec and the orbital velocity of Moon is about 1 km/sec and moves its shadow with same velocity. Moon's shadow moves towards eastward with the greater velocity than the Earth, that results the movement of moon  from west to east across the Earth's surface.

Hence, due to the eastward movement of moon across the Earth surface causes moon to obstruct the western region the sun at first during solar eclipse.

Explanation:

the moons orbital velocity is 1km/s so it's shadow travels at the same velocity...so the moons shadow moves Eastward with velocity greater than the earth rotatinal velocity at any location or time causing it to travel West to east across the earth surface........

hope u understand......
