Sol:

Let CP of A = Rs x

SP of A = (72/100) x = 0.72 x [There is a loss of 28%]

CP of B including the cost of repairs = (0.72x + 1680)

SP of B = Rs 35910

Profit Percentage = 12.5%

[(35910) - (0.72x + 1680)] x 100 / (0.72x + 1680) = 12.5

⇒ (3423 - 0.72x) / (0.72x + 1680) = (125 / 100)

⇒ 3423000 - 72x = 9x + 21000

⇒ 3423000 - 21000 = 9x + 72x

⇒ 3402000 = 81x

⇒ x = 42000

Therefore, cost price of A is Rs 42,000.
