We know that the range of any particle projected at an angle with v velocity is given as u^2sin2A/g. Where A is the angle of projection, g is the acceleration due to gravity and u is the velocity with which the particle is moving , here u is v m/s.

So, now range is v^2sin90/9.8. The angle is taken as 45 degree to get maximum range. So, on calculating the value of range will be v^2/9.8.
