a solenoid tends to contract when a current flows through it. Why?

The loops in a solenoid are arranged such that when current flows through them, theyflow parallel and in the same direction. If 2 wires have current flowing in the same direction, the wires attract each other.

as the direction of current clearly explains that  when current moves in the direction as indicated the adjacent loop is carrying current  in the parallel direction and thus force due to 2 wires carrying current in the same direction is attractive thus a solenoid contracts when current is passing through it.
