Answer: weight of body = 234N

area of contact = 10 m²

since the units are all in SI , there is no need to convert them.

pressure =  force×area

here , the force is equal to the weight.

pressure = 234× 10

             = 2340 m²

hence , the pressure exerted by the object on the plank is 234 N/m².

Answer:

Given :-

  • A solid body weighs 234 N.
  • When it placed on a wooden plank, the area of contact is found to be 10 m².

To Find :-

  • What is the pressure exerted by the brick on the ground.

Formula Used :-

\clubsuit Pressure Formula :-

\bigstar \: \: \: \: \sf\boxed{\bold{\pink{Pressure =\: \dfrac{Force}{Area}}}}\: \: \: \: \bigstar\\

Solution :-

Given :

  • Force = 234 N
  • Area of Contact = 10

According to the question by using the formula we get,

\implies \sf\bold{\purple{Pressure =\: \dfrac{Force}{Area}}}\\

\implies \sf Pressure =\: \dfrac{\cancel{234}}{\cancel{10}}

\implies \sf Pressure =\: \dfrac{\cancel{117}}{\cancel{5}}

\implies \sf\bold{\red{Pressure =\: 23.4\: Pa}}

\therefore The pressure exerted by the brick on the ground is 23.4 Pa .
