Answer:

Pressure = \frac{force}{Area}

Pressure = \frac{300}{6}

Pressure = \frac{50}{1}

Pressure = 50

Hence the pressure on the wooden plank exerted by the solid body was 50 N/m²

Given:

A solid body weighs 300N. The area of contact is found to be 6m².

To find:

Pressure exerted by body?

Calculation:

  • Pressure is a scalar quantity factorise by the ratio of perpendicular force vector (i.e. thrust) and area. In other words, it refers to the force per unit area.

 \therefore \: P =  \dfrac{F}{area}

 \implies \: P =  \dfrac{300}{6}

 \implies \: P =  50 \: Pascal

So, pressure exerted by object is 50 Pascal.
