Side of the bigger cube , a = 12cm

Volume of the bigger cube, a³ = (12)³ = 1728cm³

Volume of the 8 new cubes = \frac{Volume\:of\:the\:bigger\:cube}{8}

= \frac{1728 cm^3}{8}

= 216 cm³

We have given that, the side of a cube is 12 cm

To find the volume of the cube, we use the formula:- a³

Putting the values in the formula

\implies\rm{ <strong>V</strong><strong>o</strong><strong>l</strong><strong>u</strong><strong>m</strong><strong>e</strong><strong> </strong><strong>=</strong><strong> </strong><strong> </strong>} (12)³

\implies\rm{ <strong>Volume</strong> <strong>=</strong><strong> </strong>}

1728 cm³

It is cut into 8 cubes of equal volume

\implies\large{\rm {\frac{Volume\: of\: cube}{8}}}

\impliesVolume of new cube = 216 cm³

The edge of new cube is:-

\implies a³ = 216

\implies\large\bf{<strong> </strong><strong> </strong><strong>a</strong><strong> </strong><strong>=</strong><strong> </strong><strong>6</strong><strong> </strong><strong>c</strong><strong>m</strong><strong> </strong>}

Thus, the edge of new cube is 6 cm.
