GIVEN,

mass of solid cylinder= 24kg

TO FIND,

mass of cylinder twice thick and only half long,

SOLUTION,

we are given,

mass of solid cylinder= VOLUME* DENSITY

24= \pi r^{2} h* D ------(i) ( Mass is given, the volume of a solid cylinder is

for the next condition the height = \frac{h}{2} , radius= 2r

mass of new solid cylinder= VOLUME*DENSITY

MASS= \pi 4r^{2} \frac{h}{2}*D----(ii)

dividing equations (i) and (ii)

we get,

\frac{24}{mass}= \frac{\pi r^{2}h }{\pi 4r^{2}\frac{h}{2}  }

solving for the mass of new cylinder we get,

mass= \frac{24*4}{2}

mass= 48kg

HENCE THE VOLUME OF THE NEW CYLINDER WILL BE 48 KG.
