Molecular formula = 2 x vapour density.

So we get molecular mass is = 64.

the molecular mass of an oxide is 64. So, it can be:-

Case 1: 3 oxygen atoms + atom of molecular mass 16, that's oxygen. So ❎ not possible.

Case 2: 2 oxygen atoms + atom of molecular mass 32, that's sulphur, which will this make the compound SO2. That's ✔ possible.

Case 3: 1 oxygen atom + atom of molecular mass 48, that's Cd which doesn't form CdO so ❎ not possible.

Therefore answer is SO2.

Equivalent weight you'll be able to fine out I think.
