Given : A solid exerts a force of 400 N.

surface area of contact is 200 cm²

To Find : the pressure exerted by the solid  

Solution :

Force = 400 N

Area = 200 cm²  = 200 / 10⁴   m²

Pressure = Force / Area

= 400 / (200 * 10⁴ )

= 2 * 10⁴

= 20000  Pascal  or N/m²

= 20 kPascal  or 20 kN/m²
