A solid floats with (1/4)th of its volume above the surface of water. Calculate the density of solid.

Good question,

Here is your perfect answer!

Let V be volume and p be density of solid.

W = Vpg

Volume inside water = V - V/4

= 3V/4

Weight displaced by immersed portion = 3V/4 × 10³ × g

Using principle of floatation ;

Vpg = 3V/4 × 10³ ×g

Hence p = 3/4×10³

= 750 kg/m³

This is our answer!

Heya ____

Solution is given here ____

Let the volume = v

Density of solid = p

So.... w = vpg

Volume inside water = 3v/4

Weight displaced by immersed portion is 3v/4*10^3*g

By using principle of floatation :-

vpg = 3v/4*10^3*g

p = 3v/4*10^3

So.... 750 kg /m^3 .... Ans..

Thank you
