A solid is composed of a cylinder with

hemispherical ends. If the whole length of the solid
is 108 cm and the diameter of the hemispherical
ends is 36 cm, find the cost of polishing the surface
of the solid at the rate of 7 paise per sq CM.

Answer:

given shape :- one cylinder and two hemispheres.

Step-by-step explanation:

total length = 108cm

diameter = 36cm

radius = 18cm

therefore, the length the two hemispheres are consuming are = 2×18 = 36cm ( the height of the hemispheres are the radiuses of them. )

therefore the length of the cylinder = 108-36

= 72cm

Now, the curved surface area of the cylinder =

2πrh

= 2× 22/7 × 18 × 72

= 57024/7 cm²

= 8146.285 or 8146.29 cm²

lateral surface area of the hemispheres = 2πr²

= 2 × 22/7 × 18²

= 14256/7

= 2036.57 cm² × 2

= 4073.14 cm²

therefore, total surface area of the solid =

4073.14 + 8146.29

= 12219.43 cm²

cost to polish 1cm² = 7p

cost to polish 12219.43cm² = 7×12219.43p

= 85536.01 or 85536p

And 85536p = ₹855.36

hope it helped :)
