Relative density (σ) = Density of body / Density of water
= (5000 kg/m³) / (1000 kg/m³)
= 2

Apparent weight = Weight in air × [1 - 1/σ]
= 0.5 kgf × [1 - 1/2]
= 0.25 kgf

Apparent weight of solid in water is 0.25 kgf
