a solid piece of metal in the form of cuboid of dimensions 24x18cm×4cm is melted down and recasted into a cube. find the length of each edge of the cube.

Volume of Cuboid and that solid metal = l * b * h


 = 24 \times 18 \times 4 \\  \\  \\  = 1728 {cm}^{3}

AFTER MELTING THE CUBOID IT'S volume doesn't gets changed


thus


Volume of cuboid = volume of new cube

but

volume \: of \: cube =  {side}^{3}

thus


1728 =  {side}^{3 }  \\  \\  \sqrt[3]{1728}  = side \\  \\  \\ 12 = side \\  \\ side = 12cm
ANS:. Therefore, the length of each edge of the newly formed cube is 12 cm ( cube has all its side i.e. edges equal)
