Answer :-

7500 P

Given :-

W = 300 N

Area = 400 cm²

To find :-

The pressure exerted by the solid.

Solution:-

Pressure → The force acting on a given area is known as pressure.

  • It's SI unit in Newton / m² or Pascal .

We have ,

A = 400 cm²

= 400 /10000

= 0 .04 m²

Now,

Pressure is given by formula :-

 \huge \boxed{P = \dfrac{F}{A}}

Put the given value

 P = \dfrac{300}{0.04}

 P = \dfrac{30000}{4}

 P = 7500 Pascal

hence,

The pressure exerted by solid is 7500 Pascal.

hello there

Explanation:

Question:. A solid weight 300N . calculate the pressure exerted by the solid on a surface if the area of contact is 400cm square.

Solution:

Given:

コ Weight (W) = 300 N

コ Area of contact=400 cm×cm

コ Pressure exerted = ?

Now, Area of contact can also be written as

A = 400 cm ×cm /10000

A = 0.04 m

[Now, according to the condition]

We, also know that :

 =  > P =  \frac{F}{A}

where ,

p = pressure exerted

F = weight of the solid

A = Area of Cross-section

[ Now , putting the value of all three variables in the above formulae respectively. ]

P = 300 N / 0.04 m

P = 7500 N / m

pressure exerted =7500 Pascal

It was adopted in 1971.

Other units of pressure are :

  • Pascal
  • N /m
  • (kg × m) /s
