Solution

d=14 cm

r=7cm

h=24cm

therefore..

lateral height (l)=√(7²+24²)=25 cm

now the cone is cutted into two pieces vertically..so now each of will contain curved surface portion and a triangular plane portion..

area of the curved portion

=πrl/2

 = ( \frac{22}{7}  \times 7 \times 25)cm {}^{2}  \\  = 550 \: cm {}^{2}

and the area of the triangular portion of sides d=14cm,l=25cm and again l=25cm

 =  \sqrt{32(32 - 24)(32 - 25) {}^{2} }  \\  =  \sqrt{32 \times 8 \times 7 {}^{2}}  \\  = 7 \times 8 \times 2 \\  = 112 \: cm {}^{2}

therefore total surface area

=(550+112)Cm²

=662cm²

Hope this helps you....
