Step-by-step explanation:

Given

a solution containing 4 gram of a non volatile organic solutes per 100 ml was found an osmotic pressure equal to 500 CM  of Mercury at 27 degree centigrade. The molecular weight of the solute is

Given weight of solute = 4 g

Volume = 100 ml = 100 / 1000 litre.

Osmotic pressure π = 500 cm of mercury

                                = 500 / 76 atmosphere

Temperature = 27 + 273 = 300 k

We know that

Osmotic pressure π v = n RT

   500 / 76 x 100 / 1000 = 4 / M x 0.082 x 300

  M = 7478.4 / 50

M = 149.7

Therefore molecular weight of solute is 149.7
