A solution contains 15g urea (molar mass =60g mol^-1)per liter of solution in water has the same osmotic pressure as a solution of glucose(molar mass =180g mol^-1)in water .calculate the mass of glucose present in one litre of its solution.

Answer:

45g

Explanation:

First we need to calculate No. of moles of urea.

= 15/60

= 0.25 mol

Hence it is in 1L of solution 0.25 is the molarity.

Osmotic pressure is equal and as per the theory their molarities will also be equal.

So, 0.25 = No. of moles of glucose/1 (Because, volume is 1L)

ie. we now got the moles and it's easy to find the mass by:

0.25 = mass of glucose/Molar mass

ie. mass of glucose = 0.25 * 180 (Molar mass is in the question)

=> 45g
