A solution contains 30g of glucose, 20g of salt in 500mL of water. Calculate the mass per cent of (a) glucose, (b) salt (density of water = 1g/mL).

Mass of water = 500g ( density of water is 1g/ml)

Total mass of solution = 550g

Mass % of glucose = 30/550*100

= 5.45%

Mass % of salt = 20/550*100

= 3.63%
