Answer:

Solution

1 gram = 1 ml

so 40 gram = 40 ml

Now percentage of Sugar = 40 / 400 × 100

= 10 %

Percentage of Salt = 30 / 400 × 100

= 7.5 %

Answer:

(a) Mass of sugar(solute) = 40g

Mass of salt(solvent) = 30g

Mass of water(solvent) = 400ml = 400g[ml is a unit of volume and 1ml =1g]

Therefore mass of solution = 40+30+400

= 470 g

Now,

we know that

Percentage of solute = (mass of solute/mass of solution) x 100

Therefore,

Percentage of sugar = 40/470 x 100

= 8.51%

AND,

Percentage of salt = 30/470 x 100

= 6.38%
