A solution contains 60 g of glucose, 40 g of salt in 1 litre of water. Calculate the mass per cent of (a) glucose (b) salt (density of water = 1 g /mL).

Total weight of solution by mass = 30g + 20g + 500 g = 550g

Mass % of glucose = 30/ 550 *100 = 5.45 %

Mass % of salt = 20 /550 *100 = 3.63%
