A solution has been prepared by mixing 15 mL of alcohol with 75 ml
of water. Calculate the percentage (by volume) of alcohol in the
solution.​

solution volume=15+75=90 ml

now % of alcohol=150/9=16.666%

and of water=100-16.666=85.444%

PERCENTAGE of the alcohol in the solution = 16.67%

Volume of alcohol = 15mL (solute)

Volume of water = 75mL (solvent)

.) Now we know that ,

Volume of solution = volume of solute + volume of solvent

=> volume of solution = 15mL+75mL

.) Hence, volume of solution = 90mL

Now ,

% of alcohol in solution by volume = (volume of alcohol *100 / volume of solution )

.) Hence ,

% of alcohol = 15*100/90

% of alcohol = 1500/90 = 16.67%
