A solution is known to contain only one type of cation. Addition of SO42− ion to the solution had no apparent effect, but addition of Br1− ion resulted in the formation of a precipitate. Which cation is present?​

Firstly if the there is a cation it must be a compound otherwise it would have reacted in the first step only , the cation maybe “sodium sulphate “ or “potassium sulphate“ reacted with barium chloride
