\huge\textbf{Solution}
<b>
Mass of solute (sodium chloride) = 40 g
Mass of solvent (water) = 250g

Mass of solution

=(Mass of solute + solvent)

= (40 + 250)g

= 290g

Concentration of solute in terms of mass percentage is given as,

Mass percentage of solute

 \frac{MASS \: \: OF \: \: SOLUTE}{MASS \: \: OF \: \: SOLUTION} \times 100

 (\frac{40}{290} \times 100)\% \\ \\ = 13.79\%

Thanks
