'x' is lime water (calcium hydroxide). It reacts with carbon dioxide to form calcium carbonate and water.

The balanced chemical equation of the reaction is as follows:

 Ca(OH)2(aq) + CO2(g) -----> CaCO3(s) + H2O(l)

Calcium hydroxide is obtained by adding water to calcium oxide. It is a highly exothermic reaction.

CaO + H2O ----> Ca(OH)2 + Heat
