A solution of Cuso4, was kept in an iron pot. After a few days, the iron pot was found to
have a number of holes in it. Write the equations of the reaction that took place. Explain
this reaction with Fe2O3. State the special name given to this reaction.

Answer:
Iron is more reactive than copper and so iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution. Since iron is being consumed, holes appear in the pot.
The reaction that will take place here is:-
CuSO4 + Fe ----> Fe2(SO4)3 + Cu
And this reaction with Fe2O3 is :-
CuSO4 + Fe2O3 ----> Fe2(SO4)3 + CuO
The first is displacement reaction...
And second is double displacement reaction....

Answer:
we know that iron is more reactive than copper. So, when a solution of copper sulphate is kept in an iron pot , then iron being more reactive displaces copper from copper sulphate solution.
CuSO4 + Fe FeSO4 + Cu
Hence holes are formed in the iron pot.
