Answer:

Mass of solute = 3.4 gm

Mass of solvent = 500 gm

Solute = C2 H5 OH = Ethanol

→ Molecular Mass = 46 gm

No. of moles of solute = n = W/M

                      = 17/230

No. of moles of solvent = n' = 18/500

Molality = (3.4/46) × (1000/500)

  = 0.147  moles/kg

Mole fraction =

X(solute) = n/(n+n')

               =  0.073/0.109

               = 0.669

X(solvent) = 1 - 0.669

                  = 0.331
