AnswEr :

Mass of HNO₃ present in 100 ml of solution is 7g.

GivEn :

5% of \rm HNO_3 is dissolved in 100 mL of solution.

Density = 1.4 g/mL

To find :

Mass of \rm HNO_3 dissolved in 100 mL of solution = ?

Solution :

Let us assume that volume of the solution be x .

Now,

Accordingly density is given,

So,

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ \rho= \dfrac{M}{V}  \\  \\  \\

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ 1.4= \dfrac{100}{x}  \\  \\  \\

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ x =  \dfrac{100}{1.4} \\  \\  \\

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ { \underline{ \boxed{ \bf{ \blue{x = 71.4mL}}}}} \ \bigstar  \\  \\

Now,

As we have got the volume(x), which means ,

  • 71.4 ml = 5g of HNO₃

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ 100 =  \dfrac{100 \times 5}{71.4}  \\  \\  \\

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ 100 =  \dfrac{500}{71.4}  \\  \\  \\

\dashrightarrow \sf \ \ \ 100 \ mL= 7 \ gm \\  \\

It means that, mass of HNO₃ present in 100 ml of solution is 7g !!

Additional Information :

The density of an object or body is equal to its total mass divided by its total volume !!

In simple terms, density is a measure of mass per volume .

\dag \  { \boxed{\rm { \ \rho= \dfrac{M}{V} \ }}}

Where,

  • \rm\rho = density

  • m = mass

  • V = volume
