Dividing both sides by 2

4 {x}^{2}  - x -  \frac{3}{2}  = 0

(2x) {}^{2}  - 2 \times 2x \times  \frac{1}{4}  + ( \frac{1}{4} ) {}^{2}  -  \frac{3}{2}  -  \frac{1}{16}  = 0

(2x -  \frac{1}{4} ) {}^{2}  -  \frac{24 + 1}{16}  = 0

(2x -  \frac{1}{4} ) {}^{2}  =  \frac{25}{16}

2x -  \frac{1}{4}  =  \frac{5}{4}  \:  \: or \:  -  \frac{5}{4}

2x =  \frac{3}{2}  \:  \: or \:  \:  - 1

x =  \frac{3}{4}  \:  \: or \:  \:  -  \frac{1}{2}  \:  \: ans.
